Laban Konsyumer Happy with lower Feed In Tarifff Allowance charge in electric bills and Continues to Support new power supply agreements
Consumer Group Laban Konsyumer Inc. lauded the recent announcement of power rate decrease by Meralco, as rates went down in February by 59 centavos per kilowatt hour, making it the lowest in two years. This is the second straight month of power rate reduction, totaling to 1 peso per kilowatt hour in the past two months cumulatively.
The group is thankful that this brings down power prices and the generation charge bill component significantly, to the great benefit of consumers.
Laban Konsyumer also recently celebrated the outcome of Energy Regulatory Commission decision as they have finally reduced to 4 centavos per kilowatt hour the feed-in-tariff allowance in the electric bills being paid for by Filipino consumers.
Laban Konsyumer President Vic Dimagiba said we hoped that our participation as consumer advocate helped tip the scales regarding this decision by the Regulator. This emphasizes our primary advocacy through timely petitions filed to the Commission .
Laban Konsyumer also stated that it is waiting for the pending action and decision for the disclosure of the grid operating maintenance program as it is already a hot and urgent topic nowadays, especially as we enter the summer months and the high temperatures usually lead to plant shutdowns and thinning power supply.
Laban Konsyumer concluded that this will greatly benefit consumer welfare, and we will continue to safeguard all customers of power, to relieve them of having to pay higher rates like the Fit Allowance . We also believe that the new power supply agreements, these will also address lowering costs for the consumer. We once again express our satisfaction at such an outcome as this will further empower the consumer.
